New Year's Eve

Hi guys, I'm here at our house with my family, we are going to celebrate New Year's Eve, We still have exactly 11 hours and 40 minutes before we welcome 2011. I am so excited, another year of joy, love and opportunities! I hope we all have a safe new year's eve celebration.

Right now my dad is cooking our new year's eve dinner, we call it "media noche" here in the Philippines. Before 12:00 strikes we are going to light our fire crackers. it will be so much fun. 

There are so many good things that happened to me on this year 2010. I hope that we all have a very happy and healthy new year. Let's all welcome the new year with a BANG!!!

Friendster vs. Facebook

FRIENDSTER vs. FACEBOOK

Hey guys! How are you all doing? I hope all of you are fine. I just got home from work, I feel exhausted, we received so many calls, but I’m kind of ok with that because that’s a typical day at work. So first things first! How’s your weekend? I hope all of you had a blast during the weekend, I hope all of you had a fun and memorable Christmas, well I know that I did have a fun weekend; I mentioned that on my previous blogs. J

Alright. So today’s blog is about Friendster and Facebook. So I’m absolutely sure all of you are familiar with what these two are. I will call this blog “FRIENDSTER vs. FACEBOOK”. I will mainly discuss the pros and cons of these two, so let’s get started.

Ok, I had Friendster first before Facebook, believe me at some point I was obsessed with Friendster. My friend in college created my Friendster account; from that day on I always make sure that I always open my Friendster account, not just everyday but 3 times a day! How loser am I? They say that Facebook came out first before Friendster but I learned of Friendster first, anyway, my friends were asking me to create my own Facebook account, but I told them that I don’t want to because I don’t know how to make one. Yes, I really don’t know how to make one and I still love Friendster at that time.

Anyway, since everyone is pressuring me about creating a Facebook account, eventually I created one, and at first I don’t understand how Facebook works, it’s not user friendly for me.

Long story short, after weeks of studying Facebook I enjoyed it and I always check my Facebook account from then on. I forgot about my Friendster account for like months now. (I’m sorry Friendster!)

Friendster:

Pros:

You can choose your layouts for your profile based on your personality. You can change it as often as you like.

You can also download songs for your profile, so anyone who will visit your page will get to listen to the song that you uploaded.

Very user – friendly.

You can use pictures or download graphics as part of your comments.

You can make your own videos on your profile.

Cons:

Friendster now is so boring. Peace.

Few people are using Friendster now; mostly kids. Most people I know they’re into Facebook.

There’s no chat in Friendster.

You cannot put comments on somebody else’s comment.

No events.

The list goes on forever.

Facebook:

Pros:

You can chat to all of your online friends. Instant messaging.

So many cool applications.

You can create fan pages.

You can use Facebook to organize an event.

You can tag pictures to your friends. Etc.

It’s like YM and Friendster rolled into one.

Cons:

You cannot personalize your profile page.

Everything is white and blue.

Most people use Facebook to bad-mouth other people.

Wars are most common in Facebook if you know what I mean.

So there you go, that is my insight about these two popular social networks. Friendster or Facebook, it only boils to one purpose: communication. Let’s make sure that we use these two for good reasons only, to communicate and catch up with our old friends and to send love to the people that we don’t get to see everyday.

Good morning guys! I just woke up and first thing I did was this, typing my sixth blog. How addicted am I? Well I guess breakfast has to wait. It’s really cold here, I’m sneezing and I have serious colds. But it’s ok, I just have to finish this and I’ll go down, I’ll probably make coffee or something.

Prom Night

Good evening guys! How’s your day so far? Me, I’m doing great, it’s Sunday night and I’m sitting here in front of my laptop and typing my fifth blog. This is kind of different from my previous blogs; I’ll be talking about a very special memory from my past and I’m sure most of the girls out there have their own share of story about this. We are going through memory lane baby!! :)

Early this morning, I was looking at my old scrap book, and I found my best friend’s picture, and then all my high school memories flashed back right before my eyes! So I started reminiscing some of the great experiences I had during my high school days. Most people say high school is the best, it’s the phase in your life where you can go wild, learn new things, meet different kind of people, laugh, cry, fall in love, first kiss name it, the list goes on like forever. High school is like riding a roller coaster, there are so many turns and hoops and you really want to make the most out of it, because it doesn’t last forever, so it would be great if you have something to remember by forever. For instance, your Prom Night!

Oh yes, the infamous Prom Night!

This is a very special day that most girls are dreaming about. Every junior and senior girl wakes up in the morning knowing that it would be a memorable night that she will tell her grandchildren about. As she climbs out of bed and into the shower, she thinks of her fabulous dress, the jewelry and the expensive shoes she’s been asking from her parents to buy for her. J She looks into her mirror and tells herself that she’s beautiful and that she will have the best night of her life.

 She can’t wait for the night to come and her date to pick her up, she will open the door with a smile, looking like a princess, with the great dress, killer heels, perfect make up and hair do, and her date will give her a bouquet of fresh flowers and a corsage made out of lilies and orchids. Oh yes that would be a night to remember, a night to party, to have fun, to let loose with your friends or probably the night for your first kiss? I must say…

I’m being dramatic here; well that’s really how we felt right? Let me tell you about my very own prom night, ok. I like my senior prom better than my junior prom by the way.

Junior Prom:

Me and my best friend were just so excited! Her name’s Jena. A week before the prom we had what we call “Prom Meeting”, this was just between us two. We do this after school everyday, every after school we go to her house and just talk about the prom. (We always go to her house after school; it’s like an everyday routine.) We were asking each other as to what to wear, we didn’t  have dates ok? I know it looks like were losers, but hey! That’s fine, it was our first time, we were thinking that we will have dates for the prom next year! (Yes I had a date in my senior year; we’ll talk about that later!) 

Anyway, as I was saying, we talked about the preparations that we need to do and all that stuff. So prom night came, and the first few hours for me were a disaster, and it was kind of funny though. Let me give you a bit of a background as to how prom night works in my school, ok, so in order for you to get inside the school grounds you have to have a ticket, without your ticket you can’t go inside, no exceptions, ok? They are selling the tickets a week before the prom for like 40pesos each, you can only buy one. No outsiders.

So long story short, I left my ticket at our house, I just realized that I left my ticket while I’m on my way to my best friend’s house (our meeting place), so I didn’t  have a choice I have to go back, so you can just imagine how tired and sweaty I am when I got home and took my ticket, I was like running and all. It was exhausting. So I was late, I went to Jena’s house and she left without me, so I walked to my school, wearing my gown, in the middle of the night. My gown by the way was black, and yes people wear staring at me, they were probably thinking,” Who’s that wannabe?”, but I couldn’t care less all I want is to reach my school and just get through the night.

So when I reached the gate, I started to feel better, I went straight to the bathroom and freshen up a little bit and I joined the on going party. I saw my best friend and we were jumping and singing all over the place. We took like gazzilion pictures of us and our friends; we ate and danced with each other. It was fun.. Really really fun! Haaaayyy.

Senior Prom:

This time I had a date, he was my ex-boyfriend and my classmate too. My gown this time is color baby blue and it was beautiful, I looked like Cinderella (well, its my moment) Me and my boyfriend at that time participated in the Prom Dance you know the “cotillion”, is that how you spell that? I’m sorry. Anyway yeah we danced and all of my classmates were like teasing us, I want to shout at them and say “Oh please, grow up guys!” but no I didn’t do that, I don’t want to mess up my dance.

It was a night to remember, my best friend was also there, she came with her boyfriend at that time, and we took pictures, me and my boyfriend danced like forever.  I just felt like I’m a woman, you know what I mean. Everything was perfect unlike my junior year. I’m just thinking at that time that whatever happens, I will always remember this night forever. It was fun and sad at the same time, because I’m thinking that this will be my last prom forever. But I don’t regret it, I’m even thankful that God let me experience this.

So my advice to all the girls out there, make sure that you will attend to your Prom Nights, you don’t know what you will be missing, whether you have a date or not, even though it feels like everything is falling apart on the day of your prom, it’s not just having a date, it’s about having the best experience in high school, the best memory that you can jot down on your diary. I’m sure everything will turn out just fine, like mine. It will be one of the best stories you can tell your kids when you grow up. You’ll never know, you might end up with the person you’ve been dreaming about since you were 5. So make sure you won’t miss it ok?

MUST TRY: AMICI RESTAURANT

Hi guys! How’s your day? This is my fourth blog. I was supposed to post this last night but unfortunately my internet was down, so yesterday was Christmas day, so let’s just pretend that you’re still reading this on Christmas day. ok?

I didn’t expect that writing blogs can be fun; it’s like story telling, but in a more personalized way.

Anyway, I just got home; I went out with my friends. This blog is about food, it’s me making you crave and hungry! It’s still Christmas day and the last thing I did was to spend time with my friends. I don’t normally do this because more often than not, I’m working on Christmas, taking calls and all that, but not this year, good thing Christmas falls on my day off, good job!

Ok so lets go through my blog, I have a friend, her name‘s Althea, she used to work at Convergys, If you read my previous blog, you’ll know that I’m working at Convergys, anyway, she will be leaving for Arkansas on Monday night with her husband, she lives in the US since like forever, and she’s a Filipina too. So she asked us if we want to go out tonight to have a little “despedida” dinner with her. Despedida is a tradition here in the Philippines, when a person is going abroad or in a faraway place away from home for a long period of time, it can be a party, dinner or family reunion, this is to cherish good old memories with that person.

And also, the dinner was like an advance birthday celebration for my other dear friend Wyeth.

So we are supposed to eat at Max’s, but Althea suggested going to Ayala Triangle. It’s a public place in the heart of Makati. We went there and it was crazy! There were so many people, kids running around, family taking photos, sweethearts strolling, it was like a concert! And since it’s Christmas time, they have what they call “Lights Show” or “Show Lights” I really don’t know how they call it, sorry. So there are Christmas lights and lanterns hanging all over the trees, and even to the grounds, and then they play some Christmas carols and the lights will go dance with the tune, you know what I mean? I can’t really describe it, I guess you’ll understand what I mean if you go there. It’s like Las Vegas! City of Lights! Is it New York or Las Vegas the city of lights? I don’t know either but what ever..hahaha. It’s a 20 minute lights show!

And then after that we went to Amici Restaurant, it’s an Italian resto. The place was jam-packed! So we were on the waiting list. So we waited for about 15 minutes or so but it was worth it, when you get inside the first thing you’ll see is the dessert bar, they call it “Caramia”, it’s like McCafe for McDonalds (just to give you a picture).

What did we order?  We ordered 2 pastas and 2 pizzas; we were six by the way.

Pasta:

Spaghetti White Vongole E Gamberetti Php264

(Sauteed mixed seafood on al dente spaghetti in olive oil)

Spaghetti alla Bolognese Php185

(A delightful dish with your favorite meaty tomato sauce)

Pizza:

Oh my god, just typing this makes me want for more! I’m practically drooling over here! Hahaha. The Bolognese pasta and the Vongole were superb! I love it, it’s better than Chelsea’s in Sirendra.

The pizza was a major love! It’s fresh, hot and tasty! The price is right! It’s not like your ordinary pizza! I think the pizzas in Amici are made with love!

The pastas are good for two, and the pizzas are divided into 8 slices (12 inches).

So the food there is perfect for sharing. You definitely have to try Amici, one of the best Italian restaurants!

But that’s not the best part, na ah ah! Let me tell you about the dessert! Wyeth bought us a whole cake for dessert, it’s called Banana Blast. And yes it was a blast!

The dessert was amazing! I love it! It's an ice cream cake. The image of the cake can speak for itself! We even took pictures before we ate the cake, because it was so good.

Another good thing about Amici is their customer service, since it’s Christmas it was a very busy day at the resto but the service was still great. We even got a complimentary slice of Tiramisu cake for Wyeth since it’s her birthday. Don’t even get me started talking about the Tiramisu cake.. hahaha!

All in all, Amici Restaurant is the best! I will definitely go back there, you should try it! You will never regret it, I guarantee you! They really exceeded my expectations.:)

So I guess, that’s it, my eyelids are getting heavier by the minute, and I’m so cold because the AC is just behind me!!Grrrr.. I will probably do another blog tomorrow..What will be my next topic? Why I'm In My Current Job

Hey guys! it's exactly 2:18 pm and I'm waiting for my dad, I'm alone in our house typing my third blog! So I'm surfing the net and thinking for what my next topic would be and then I found one that got my interest its from http://www.darrenbarefoot.com/archives/2007/09/55-more-blog-posts-i-hope-you-write.html, he's also a blogger and he listed 55 topics that you can talk about on your blog. So I chose this one. This will be very interesting I guess, specially with my co -call center agents!


Ok, on my profile page, I mentioned that I am a full time call center agent, that's what I do for living. I'm gonna tell you a brief story as to how I ended as one. Once upon a time......hahaha, just kidding!


Before I became a call center agent, I'm a Business Process Associate, it's sounds like it's really heavy and formal but it's not, it's more on office job, paper works and all that stuff, it's really fun, I stayed there for 11 months. I will no longer elaborate how my previous job works, because that's not really the main topic here..omg! I'm just blabbing! please forgive me.


Ok, I was referred by the brother of my sister's boyfriend at that time, (whew! that's hard) and then I said no, can I say the name of my company?, I guess yes, well it's Convergys. It's one of the best call centers here in the Philippines, we have so many branches all over the world, so at first I declined the offer because I'm really afraid and I dont want to leave my previous job. But I had no choice so I took it, long story short, I passed and then here I am. I have been with Convergys for 3 years and 7 months now. that is crazy!


But many people think that when you're working in a call center you're rich! That's what they think! well yeah you earn more than the typical jobs that we have here but it's hard. For instance, you keep on talking for like 8 hours everyday, you get screamed at by irate subscribers. and you go crazy over holidays! It's really stressful and fun at the same time! you have so many things to think about, promotions, tenure ship, double pay, score cards and all that stuff!


Having said that I would still say that this is one of the coolest jobs ever. It's really hard but very fun! You will get all the experiences you can ever imagine. You can get to talk to all different kinds of people. You can get the chance to meet friends like I meet mine! My friends are amazing, they are the reason why I'm still coming to work everyday.. So I never regret that this is my job right now.

Hey guys.. I'm back, i just posted my first blog early this morning and I just cant get enough, I'm working on my second blog right now! This is a beauty tag, I will basically answer these set of questions, I got this from YouTube, if you're a fan of YouTube you will definitely know what these "tags" are. I actually have a YouTube channel its "buttercorn01", but I never get to use it. I don't know, I just don't have the time to film videos, that's beside the fact that I don't know how to upload one..hahaha!


I'm not really into make-up and stuff but i love watching tutorials in YouTube, I just find it fascinating and enjoyable to watch, My favorite beauty gurus in YouTube are juicystar07, allthatglitters21 (they are sisters by the way!) and meganheartsmakeup You can check their pages, its fun!


Ok, lets get started..


1. Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice make-up, or nice hair and no make-up?


- Nice hair and no make-up. Because I really don't use make-up, my everyday make-up would be powder and cheek tint, that's it, I prefer to have a messy hair and no makeup, I think i want to look natural if you know what i mean. Especially during the summer, i would just have a messy bun with no make up, because it's really hot in here during the summer and putting make up is definitely a NO NO!




2. Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?

- Eyelashes fall out. I don't want to look like a mannequin, if I shave my eyebrows and I can always use false lashes.

3. Would you rather be forced to shop at only MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?

- Sephora. I dont know if we have Sephora here in the Philippines hahaha! But I do know that you have so many options in Sephora! so I think it would be really fun to shop at Sephora for the rest of my life. But reality check, MAC will be fine, again I'm not into make up, I don't have any Sephora or MAC products!

4. Would you rather wear the lipgloss/lipliner look or 80's perm?

-Lipgloss/Lipliner look. I don't want to have a big, frizzy hair! no, thank you!

5. Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?

-This is a toughie. I would go with overdone blush! If somebody sees me with an overdone blush, I'll just tell them I'm going to a costume party! End of story.

6. Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public?

-MC Hammer pants. I don't like wearing shorts in public, I don't have the best legs in the face of the planet.

7. Would you rather have a bad orange-y spray tan or really weird tan lines that can't be covered?

- Really weird tan lines that can't be covered. This one is easy, I don't use spray tan, we dont need that here in the Philippines. It's so hot in our country you can bake potatoes under the sun.

8. Would you rather have a bad haircut or bad hair color?

-Bad hair color. I never really tried to color my hair ever. But I would rather get that than getting a bad hair cut, you will never caught me dead in a bad hair cut! My goal actually is to grow my hair long. My hair grows very slow, so if i get a bad hair cut then that would be a problem! :)

9. Would you rather have YouTube or Twitter taken away forever?

-Twitter. I have a twitter account by the way which is, http://twitter.com/iamabbylegaspi , you can follow me. Going back, yes i would rather have twitter taken away forever, because in YouTube you can watch several videos and you will never get bored, from time to time you can find unique videos and all that stuff, so yeah, that will be my choice.

10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara?

-Make up brushes. I don't really use make up, I've said that for like the hundredth time now, i'm sorry! and I don't know how to blend colors etc. but I definitely know how to use mascara. I had one during my high school days, the clear mascara and its fun! hahaha.

Tis the season to be Jolly!

Hi everyone! This will be my very first blog, this is kinda special to me, no actually this blog is really special for me, why? because it's Christmas day.. Oh yes it is.. haha, its exactly 6:07am here while Im typing this.. 

For those who will read this, let me introduce my self first, my name is Abby, i'm 23, from the Philippines, and Im a full time call center agent, Im working at Convergys.  I love reading books and talk about anything under the sun!!

Ok so let's go ahead and talk about my first topic ever! I'm so excited!

Christmas. What comes to your mind when you hear this? For me, first thing that pops in my head is gifts! what else, uhmmm.. ham, cold, Santa, holidays, presents, kids, food, dessert, pine trees, graham cake and snow. Sad to say it doesn't snow here in the Philippines, but every Christmas people are just crazy!

Christmas for me is about sharing with your loved ones, not just for material things and gifts if you know what i mean. It's the time of year where you just sit with your family, sipping hot chocolate, listening to Christmas carols, talking about whatever. For me, Christmas is love, giving and sharing, even if you don't have the means of buying gifts, you still feel the essence of Christmas just being with your family.

Do you have any Christmas tradition? Well in my family, we have some Christmas tradition, well the usual, my dad cooks the best noche buena dinner, his specialty? Pasta! ohh yes.. We eat together with my sisters and of course daddy. After that we open our gifts, we don't wait until Christmas day, we open our gifts on Christmas eve, because everyone's excited about who gets what..My dad's gifts for us every year is so funny, since we are 3 girls, he buys 3 identical things, like for example this year he bought 3 bags but with different colors of course and then he numbers it from 1-3 we pick numbers and then that's it! hahaha.. It's so much fun!
